At the 3rd Peruvian Olive and Olive Oil Fair Tacna 2025, I had the honor of meeting the world's top olive sector authority and personally presenting him with my book.
Peru’s olive sector is experiencing a period of profound transformation, consolidation, and international projection. In this context of growth, the city of Tacna became the epicenter of the industry by hosting the 3rd Peruvian Olive and Olive Oil Fair Tacna 2025. The event not only brought together the most prominent producers and specialists from the region, but also featured a historic international presence: the visit of Jaime Lillo López, Executive Director of the International Olive Council (IOC).
For me, this edition of the Fair was not only a space for learning and technical updates, but also the setting for one of the most rewarding and significant moments of my professional career. I had the honor of meeting with Jaime Lillo and having an enriching conversation about the current state of the sector, quality challenges, and the enormous export potential that olive oil and olives from southern Peru hold.
The Value of Sharing Knowledge: Presenting My Book
As a passionate researcher and advocate for this sector, I firmly believe that technical knowledge and cultural dissemination are the pillars of any industry’s development. That is why the highlight of this encounter was the opportunity to personally gift the IOC’s Executive Director a copy of my book.
Presenting this work — which distills years of study, dedication, and love for olive growing — represents a direct bridge between the efforts of Peruvian producers and the world’s highest regulatory and promotional authority for olive oil. Jaime Lillo received the copy with great openness, showing genuine interest in technical publications and the analytical perspectives emerging from our region.
Tacna in the Eyes of the Olive World
The IOC leader’s participation in the 3rd Peruvian Olive and Olive Oil Fair confirms that Peru is doing things right. The path toward analytical excellence, improving the sensory profiles of our oils, and achieving international recognition is a collective effort that is now beginning to bear visible fruit.
This encounter motivates me to work even harder, promoting the culture of “liquid gold,” training new professionals, and raising the quality standard of our flagship product. I am deeply grateful to the event organizers for making these spaces of the highest conceptual and commercial level possible.
